Morning Glory A/Ps Sold Out

Yesterday we sold the last remaining Artist’s Proof of Morning Glory so it’s just the standard edition and remarques available now.  Also sold yesterday was the original of the 479th Fighter Group cover painting.

I’m out in Poland now for 10 days finishing off the design work for our new book Luftwaffe Crash Archive Volume 5 and hopefully completing a new piece of WWI cover art for Osprey.  As the temperature hit 32C here today and paint dries instantly in that heat,  I might leave the painting until the thunderstorms arrive!

Spitfire Dawn prints arrived

The Spitfire Dawn prints were delivered today and I’m happy to say that the repro is very good, dark enough to keep the atmosphere without losing the detail in the shadow areas.
Just need to sign them tonight before sending the first orders out tomorrow. I asked Szymek to take this quick photo… 2 hours in Photoshop later I’m still trying to hide the complete mess that is my desk in the background, the wife will not be impressed…

NEW BATTLE OF BRITAIN SPITFIRE PRINT

SpitfireDawn1500copyright

As this is going to be my last year in the UK for a while I was determined to enter something for this year’s Guild of Aviation Artist’s exhibition in July.  Unfortunately, all of my recent originals have sold so I decided to paint a new scene that has been in my head for quite a while now, depicting Spitfires deploying to a forward airfield at dawn during the Battle of Britain.  Many of the Battle of Britain pilots I have spoken to over the years remembered the incredibly long and tiring days of that summer, being woken before dawn and frequently not standing down until the late evening.  The original painting should appear in the GAvA Annual Exhibition in July down in the Mall Galleries in London.  In the meantime, prints will be ready on Thursday of this week for despatch so you can pre-order one now if you like it, just click on the image above.

New Osprey cover painting

We’re back in the UK after a very busy Easter in Poland where we’ve decided to more or less redecorate the entire house!  Despite spending most of the time out there in DIY shops choosing paint colours, I managed to fit in this painting depicting a rare Spitfire MkVII of 131 Sqn in action on 12th June 1944.

The original is now for sale in the ‘originals section’ or just click on this link;
