New Original Painting

The Black Horse over Bamburgh
The Black Horse over Bamburgh

I’ve just completed a new original canvas titled ‘The Black Horse over Bamburgh’ depicting Spitfire P8148 ‘The Black Horse’ which was purchased for the RAF by the employees of Lloyds Bank in 1940.  I’ll post a Work in Progress on this painting shortly, although some of you may have already been following it on my Facebook page.

Prints will be available in a couple of weeks, the large original canvas (40″ x 20″) is now for sale, negotiable around £6000.   If you are interested, please just get in touch via the ‘Contact Us’ link above, or directly via email mark (at)

A new Blenheim painting

I’ve been lucky enough to work with many RAF Squadrons over the years but my first was 30 Squadron when I was commissioned to record its 75th Anniversary in paint way back in 1990.  Twenty-five years later I’m now very proud to be an honorary member of the 30 Squadron Association and it seemed only right that I contributed something to 30’s Centenary.   A few months ago I completed a painting of a Hercules climbing out of Kabul for the current squadron and now I’ve just completed this, which depicts the Squadron’s first combat and loss of WWII on 13th July 1940 when three Blenheims intercepted three SM79s over the British Mediterranean Fleet, losing one crew in the action.  We’ll be producing prints within a couple of weeks so I’ll post more details when I have them.
