RARE Veteran Signed prints found!

Back in the 1990s I was very fortunate to have my work published by AVM ‘J E ‘Johnnie’ Johnson’s publishing company, Skyscapes Aviation Art.  Those were great days, Johnnie would brief me on the subject matter, I would paint the canvas and then Johnnie’s son Chris would publish the prints and drive them around Europe getting them hand signed by the famous veterans.  Those were the ‘glory days’ of the aviation art print market where we regularly sold out of editions of 1000 copies!  After Johnnie passed away, I took my percentage of prints and sold them very quickly as even by then, the rare signatures were becoming highly sought-after.

Now after almost 20 years, we’ve discovered a few remaining copies of those prints in mint condition and are pleased to be able to offer them for sale again here. These prints include the top seven-signature editions of Kameraden, Bismarck into Battle and Regensburg-No Place to Hide along with a few copies of Hunting Owls.  Don’t miss this unique chance to collect these rare signatures of men who sailed the Bismarck, commanded U-Boats and flew with JG26 against the 8th Air Force!  CLICK HERE for more details in our Special and Rare Items section.

To Fight Another Day – Prints now available

Just received the prints of the painting ‘To Fight Another Day’, (and the Whitley painting), and will be signing them in the morning.  I featured this painting as a work in progress before Christmas so I’m delighted to be able to launch the prints at last.  It depicts Pilot Officer W C ‘Bill’ Watling of 92 Squadron struggling to bale out of his burning Spitfire P9372 after being bounced by Messerschmitt Bf109s off Camber Sands on 9th September 1940. Bill managed to escape with burns to his hands and face, whilst his Spitfire crashed just inland near East Guldeford.

Three New Prints Added

I’ve just uploaded three new prints to the website.  First is the new Messerschmitts into Battle print, as seen on the banner above.  Second is the Focke Wulf Fw200 Condor which is now Print No. 11 in the RLM Collection and third is ‘A Hero of two World Wars’ which is the DH4 painting I produced recently.

Hurricanes into Battle NEW PRINT

Hurricanes into Battle 1000

We’re delighted to announce the launch of the second print in my Battle of Britain trilogy, ‘Hurricanes into Battle’.  It depicts 249 Squadron carrying out a head-on attack against Dornier 17s at the height of the Battle of Britain.  The nearest Hurricane, V7313 GN-F was the favourite aircraft of Battle of Britain ace Tom Neil and I was delighted to show him the painting for approval over the weekend.   He has generously signed the 30 artist proofs of this print which are available for sale from today.
