Meet the Family!

On this page I'll drop in photos from time to time of life here so that those friends who we don't see as often as we would wish can keep up with what's happening!

Updated 10th November 2009

Above; This year has flown by so quickly that this update of the family album will be like a review of the year! Back in May we were really honoured to host Australian fighter ace Jack Storey DFC along with his wife Heather and daughter Kate for a few days. They travelled all the way from Oz to tour Germany, Poland and Austria, not bad at the age of 90! Jack and Heather have always been travellers and the stories they have could fill several books, I just hope they find time to write them in between the trips...

Above; Immediately after their visit came Kasia's First Communion ceremony. She and her class had worked very hard for months towards this day and I have to say it was a very moving experience for all of us.

Above; Having got the stress of First Communion out of the way, and with the summer well under way, I started to teach Kasia the playground techniques I learnt as a youngster, such as jumping off the swing at full pelt!

June arrived and with it came Szymek's 2nd birthday. We still hadn't got round to cutting his hair and slowly he was becoming a cross between an 80's German pop star and a 70's footballer.

Above; July saw us take a great holiday in the UK. First we spent 4 days up in Nairn on the north-east coast of Scotland. I had to visit 617 Squadron at Lossiemouth so it seemed a good chance to take the family to this wonderful part of the world. From there we flew down to Bristol and spent a week at Woolacombe Bay in Devon. This trip was Szymek's first experience of the sea, which he loved right up until the point when he fell over and realised that the Atlantic isn't as warm as it looks...

Above; August saw me and Asia back on our own, this time I was joining a televised aviation dig of a He111 down near Weston Super Mare. Asia explored the delights of the town and I got covered in mud and aviation fuel, the perfect holiday! After this we stayed near Bath and then on the way home dropped in to see my old friend and fellow artist Nick Trudgian near Bibury. It is without doubt one of the prettiest villages in England and this is one of the prettiest streets, note the Japanese tourists in the background.

Above; Two old grey artists consider how they ended up painting aircraft for a living...

Above; ...and finally we gave in. Szymek now looks like a boy and not Axel Rose. Soon be Christmas!

More photos soon!
