Facing the Enemy
This is my latest painting, inspired by a recent trip to New Zealand where Sir Peter Jackson invited me to fly in his wonderful collection of WW1 aircraft. The highlight was getting airborne in the FE2b, kneeling in the gunner’s position with no seat and just a length of line attaching me to the aircraft! I thought that those brave Fee gunners (who did occasionally fall out) deserved recording in paint and so came up with this head-on composition showing a formation of FE2bs engaging Fokker E IIIs with the gunner doing his bit in the 90mph slipstream. It has taken nearly 4 months to complete and is one of the most significant paintings I've done for many years.

RLM Collection painting number 8
The latest in the RLM Collection is an atmospheric portrayal of a Junkers Ju88 G-1 Night Fighter with an Me110 in the background. These two aircraft were the mainstay of the Nachtjagd and I have painted them at late dusk setting course for another long night of action against RAF Bomber Command. I will be exhibiting this painting at the IPMS Nationals at Telford this weekend 15/16th Nov) where we will be launching our two Nachtjagd War Diaries books. Full print details will be available next week.
