New Halifax print and original

Paying tribute to the young Canadian men who flew with Bomber Command

I've just finished this painting depicting Halifaxes of 424 (Tiger) Squadron RCAF taking off in winter 1944. I always try to do a 'Christmas' painting at this time of year, and this is the one for 2022.

The painting is a symbolic scene of an old Yorkshire shepherd watching these young Canadians boys going off to war. Both the Canadians and the shepherd are a long way from home in their own way, hence the title. I chose MZ813 QB-B for it's Bambi nose art, which emphasised how young these airmen were.
