My First Box Art!
Wingnut Wings have finally released images of my box art for their big Lancasters!
Sir Peter Jackson's Wingnut Wings model kit company have just revealed the final box-art for their incredible 1/32 Lancaster kits, due out at the end of 2019.
Despite painting over 200 book covers in my career, I've never done model kit box art...until now. I'm genuinely proud and privileged to have my work representing these two kits which will have a wingspan of over 3ft.
The standard Lanc kit uses my 'Veterans' painting which tries to put you in the mind of the crew as they walk towards their aircraft before an operation. I can see a lot of these huge kits being used to create family tributes to individual airmen so I think this art is very fitting.
The Dambuster Lanc box art is a new painting that has been kept under wraps for a couple of months. This is more in the style of the classic all action box art, showing John Hopgood's heroic attack on the Mohne Dam.
