Red Three Didn't Make It

This symbolic painting shows Spitfires of 602 Squadron returning from combat during the Battle of Britain. Having adopted the more flexible 'finger four' formation, only three aircraft return, Red Three's position is symbolised by a Spitfire shaped hole in the clouds below.
